DEAN GORDON

Dean Gordon is a former left back with a career that spanned almost 20 years and has seen him sample the professional game in England, mainland Europe and New Zealand. In his early career at Crystal Palace, he was selected to play for England Under 21’s on 13 different occasions.

Dean played for Crystal Palace in the Premier League and was also picked in the PFA Team of the Year and just before transferring to Middlesbrough had played more than 200 games for Crystal Palace. In that time his popularity with Palace fans soared and his strong tackling, willingness to get forward and spectacular shooting are remembered to this day by fans of the club.

In 1998 Dean moved to Middlesbrough and was part of an exciting Middlesbrough side that boasted an array of top international stars. In his first season, 1998-99, Dean played in every Premier League game, which included beating Manchester United at Old Trafford; the only home defeat inflicted on Manchester United that season.

In the summer of 2002 Dean left Middlesbrough, with his career taking him to Coventry City and, as before, he became a regular in the first team. He left Coventry City in 2004 and played at numerous clubs, both in England and abroad, and his career came to a close several years later.
